Hard Rock Music and New Technology

Of all types of popular contemporary recorded songs, hard rock music is, or at least it used to be, reliant upon the proper recording techniques.  Guitar cabinets need to be miked with the properly and the drums need not only the proper microphone setups, but also the proper room for its ambient properties.

New digital technologies may be replacing the need for all of this though, as software simulators have become all the rave for musicians and recording studios.  It now appears that you can make hard rock music with digital guitar emulators and the drum loop of your choice.  All in all, it does sound pretty good, but the classic old school recording techniques for hard rock music will always sound the best.
