Gossip water coolers

What is it about Water Coolers that makes individuals want to partake and hear to useless comments about their co-workers? Perhaps it’s just a coincidence that the chit-chat mill starts around the cooler. Sometimes though it seems to be the situation to be to have a chat. You fill up your water glass or cup and so do other employees so it just makes sense to gather around the water cooler to swap banter.
