What Exactly are Triglycerides?

June 26, 2009 on 5:56 pm | By admin | In Health | No Comments

Triglycerides are chemicals that are found in most foods and are also found in the body, including blood plasma.  Together with cholesterol they make up plasma lipids.  As you consume food, triglycerides are formed from the fats in the food that you eat.  They also are formed from things like carbohydrates that are found in your body.  As you eat food, you take in calories and the calories that are not used immediately turn into triglycerides and are then stored in your fat cells.  The energy you get between meals comes from your hormones as they release these stored triglycerides.
