Carriage Clocks Create Memories

I was visiting a friend the other day, and I heard a clock chiming. All of a sudden I was taken back to my childhood, and days when I visited my grandparents. It was almost like I was there…kind of a weird ‘deja vue’ feeling. The chimes reminded me of my grandparent’s clock. They had one of those carriage clocks that chimes every 15 minutes. I can remember a couple times when I stayed overnight, and the clock kept me awake for hours! But then, it just sorted blending in to the background, and may have actually lulled me to sleep.One thing I know for sure, whenever I hear those chimes, it gives me a warm feeling…one that reminds me of times spent with my grandparents. I wonder what became of their clock? I’ll have to ask my parents. Now that I think about it, I would love to have that clock as an heirloom that will keep the memory of my grandma and grandpa alive for me. It’s amazing what memories that simple sound of the chimes can bring back to life!
